The winter months Use this Budget Truck Rental Coupon Code during checkout to get 20% OFF Personal Rentals! Pick up through August 27. 2015! Restrictions & Terms apply!are often associated with things such as the cold temperatures, snow, short days and cold and flu season. Interestingly enough, it’s actually not the cold weather that leads to a cold like most people assume. Colds often happen in the winter months because people tend to spend more time indoors where the air is recycled and people are often in close quarters. However, there are many ways to avoid getting the cold and flu this season and staying healthy in general while on the road.

1.  Get Adequate Sleep
Getting adequate sleep is important for your health. Harvard Medical School has suggested that sleep plays an important role in memory and learning. A sleep-deprived person has shown the inability to focus and learn new tasks efficiently. Driving long distances requires focus; therefore, sleep is very important for any truck driver. Sleeping in the truck or in a hotel bed doesn’t always lead to a good night of sleep, but there are plenty of ways to get an even better night of sleep. Buying a white noise machine or the right pillow for your sleeping style can help with getting a full night of rest to keep you focused on the road.
2.  Eat Healthy
Eating healthy can improve your overall health in many ways. Eating less process foods and more vegetables and fruits can help you lose weight, boost your immune system, and get a better night of sleep. Fruits and vegetables are full of antioxidants and vitamins that can help protect you from a cold or flu. Studies have shown that vitamin C can help combat germs. You’ll find these germ-fighting vitamins in foods such as berries, broccoli, kale, tomatoes, and many other fruits and vegetables. Are you looking for ways to eat healthy for on the road? Check out this article on 10 healthy snacks while on the road.
3.  Quit Smoking
Cigarette smoking is the number one cause of preventative disease and death in the world. Over 390,000 Americans die from smoking-related diseases every year. By quitting smoking you can decrease your risk of heart disease, cancer, and other smoking-related diseases. For tips on how to quit smoking, make sure you check out our recent article.

4.  Manage Your Diabetes
Diabetes is an important disease that truckers need to learn to manage due to the nature of your job. Your job depends on it! A 2009 study found that commercial truck drivers have a 50% higher risk of developing diabetes compared to the general population and 87% of truck drivers have hypertension or pre-hypertension. By focusing on eating healthy, participating in physical activity, and working with your medical provider, your diabetes can be kept under control.
5.  Stay Up to Date on Vaccines
Chances are you haven’t had a shot in many years. Many adults think because they received all their vaccines as a child that they have a lifetime of immunity against various diseases. But, that’s not true. Vaccine effectiveness wanes over time making you more susceptible to possibly contracting a disease that you thought you were immune against. Measles have been on the rise in the recent years especially among young children. Last month an outbreak in California occurred with patients ranging from 7 months to 70 years old. The CDC strongly urges adults to stay up to date on their vaccines to help prevent contracting preventive diseases. For more information about which vaccines you need as an adult, the CDC provides an excellent infographic.
6.  Drink Lots of Water
Drinking water every day is essential to good health. Water can help regulate your body temperature, lubricate and cushion joints, and get rid of bodily waste through urination, sweat, and bowel movements. Drinking water also has been linked to weight loss because water makes people feel more full and consume fewer calories. The Institute of Medicine suggests that men should drink about 13 cups a day and women should drink about 9 cups of water a day. However, if you live in a hot climate or exercise a lot then you will most likely need even more water. Water can also come from foods, such as watermelon and celery.
7.  Exercise More
Physical activity has many benefits to health. It can help you control your weight, reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, and strengthen your bones and muscles among many other reasons. The CDC suggests working out for at least 150 minutes a week at a moderate-intensity to maintain your weight or more if you need to lose weight and keep it off. Of course, eating a healthy diet will also help you lose weight. Strength training can help reduce hip fractures, arthritis and other diseases linked to bone density loss. If you are just starting to exercise, start small and build up to longer times. Exercise can include anything you like, such as walking, biking, martial arts, or swimming. Find something you like and commit to it!
8.  Reduce Stress
Stress can be linked to a lot of negative feelings in life. Not all stress is bad, but if it has a negative impact on your physical and mental health then you should try to reduce your stress levels. The American Psychological Association has found a link between chronic stress and physical health. Chronic stress can lead to disease, such as an increased risk of coronary disease, or lead to bad habits, such as overeating and smoking. The good news is that you can reduce your stress levels and increase your health! The American Psychological Association suggests reducing your stress by first identifying what the cause is. They also suggest getting more sleep and participating in relaxation exercises such as yoga or meditation. If nothing seems to help reduce your chronic stress, seek out your medical provider or a counselor.
9.  Take a Vacation
When you run a small business or work for yourself, sometimes it’s hard to take time off for a vacation. A recent US Travel Association study found that the average American took 16 days of vacation time in 2013 compared to 20.3 days in 2000. Taking a vacation, whether it’s just a week at home or a week sitting on a tropical beach drinking Pina Coladas, can help you catch up on sleep and reduce your stress. Vacation also allows you to discover new parts of the world, different cultures and spend time with your family and friends.
10.  Spend Time with Loved Ones
Being on the road for long periods of time can leave you missing your family and friends back home. When you’re home or on vacation spend time with them. Simple as that! One study conducted by Brigham Young University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill found that having strong social connections can boost longevity.
There are many of ways to stay healthy this winter and in 2015 as a whole. Winter can be a tough time to stay healthy with lots of germs flying around. However, if you incorporate a few tips from above you stand a greater chance of remaining healthy on the road!
Now winter is only a few months of the year. By staying healthy throughout the entire year you can help to reduce your chances of developing diseases such as heart disease and cancer. For the month of February, Team Run Smart is running a cancer prevention campaign to encourage truckers to stay healthy on the road. For every new member that joins Team Run Smart during February, Team Run Smart will donate $1 to the Cancer Research Institute.  Click here to sign up today.

Budget Rental Truck Coupon Code 50% OFF: Tips for Women Who Want To Begin a Career in Truck Driving

Are you a women looking for a secure, good paying job with excellent benefits? Have you ever thought about truck driving?
==> Check out Budget Rental Truck Coupon Code 50% OFF for truck rental at Budget Rental Truck
If you’re thinking, “That’s a man’s job,” consider the fact it’s estimated that of the three million truckers in the United States, more than 200,000 are women, according to Go By Truck Global News.

Now, if you’re wondering why on earth you’d want to be a truck driver, it’s time to consider how this industry can help you secure a very successful future for you and your family.

It all comes down to work ethic and character, not gender.

First of all, you need confidence. If you believe the stereotype that truck driving is strictly a man’s job, get rid of that thought right now. Another stereotype people may have about truck driving is it is a bad industry to work in. The truth is most truckers have very positive experiences, make great money (from $50,000 to well over $200,000 per year), and have successful careers in the trucking industry.

Trucking may not be for everybody but then again, every industry is better suited for some people than others. The point is, don’t let stereotypes hold you back. The trucking industry has a ton of jobs available for hard-working people and companies will often train you and help you maintain certifications.

Secondly, use available resources. In this industry alone, there are countless helpful resources and organizations strictly committed to empowering female truck drivers. These resources are there to give you the knowledge and tools necessary to succeed in the trucking industry. One of these resources is Women In Trucking (WIT). WIT does a great job of building a strong community of female truck drivers. Don’t be afraid to seek out the women in these communities because they will give you inside advice that others around you won’t have.

Next, you want to make sure to get the best training for your CDL exam. Pick a truck driver training school with a great attitude about women in the industry and one that respects everyone. If you can, pick a school that has both men and women working for it. Even if there are mostly men working at the school you choose, you can still get a great education as a woman. Having other women in there with you will give you the support you need from a female perspective whereas choosing a school with all male workers possibly could give a biased perspective.

Having confidence in yourself, using your resources, and choosing a school that respects women interested in the industry will give you a better chance of having a positive and successful career in the trucking industry.

Budget Truck Rental Coupons 50% Off: Expert Tips for Loading a Moving Truck Rental

Truck rentals used for moving are designed to hold a certain amount of items, usually measured in cubic feet. For instance, there are 16-cubic-foot trucks, 24-cubic-foot trucks and other sizes both smaller and larger. But, the capacity of the truck means nothing if you don’t know how to maximize your storage space by packing and loading like an expert.

More common than not, movers don’t know how to effectively load their goods in to their truck rental, resulting in many cubic feet of space left unused while some of their household items are forced to be left behind. Here are some tips for loading a moving truck so you can pack like a pro and use all of the space that’s available to you.

Load large items first, or not

There are two schools of thought when it comes to what should be loaded into the truck first. Some experts believe that the largest items should be loaded in first to ensure you have the room necessary for them. Others believe that you should load your boxes in first, building a wall of boxes from the backside of the truck to the door. Either way is fine, but if you have a lot of equal-sized boxes, you might find it easier to go with the wall of boxes to maximize your space. By packing this way, you can load up the truck floor to ceiling with boxes. Just be sure you tie everything down to avoid an avalanche.

Distribute weight evenly

Distributing the weight evenly throughout the truck rental will not only make it easier to load and unload but it will make the truck easier to control once you get on the road. Load the heaviest items against the walls so you can keep the middle of the floor open for easier loading.

Loading pictures and mirrors

Pictures and mirrors can break all too easily in the back of a moving truck, so protect them by sliding them in between mattresses. They should still be wrapped and packed but by placing them between mattresses, it will make the best use of your space while ensuring nothing gets placed on top of them.

Disassemble tables for packing

Tables take up a ton of space when left together. To condense the size of the table, just take it apart and load it in the truck in pieces. You can set the table on its side, flat against the wall and it hardly takes up any space. Or, if the table is too problematic to take apart, load it into the truck and store boxes or other items underneath it and on top of it to maximize your space.

Store couches on end

A couch takes up more cubic feet in a moving truck when laid in the truck horizontally; therefore, set it on its end and drastically reduce the amount of space it takes up. Most moving trucks have high enough ceilings to accommodate a long couch placed vertically.

Use bookshelves

You don’t want to store your books on a bookshelf as its being moved but it can definitely be a convenient solution for storing smaller boxes. By loading up your bookshelf with boxes, you’re using that space to the fullest, otherwise, the space on the inside of the bookshelf would be holding nothing but air while the boxes would be taking up space in another part of the truck.

Use the straps

Packing like an expert means you will have your truck loaded up floor to ceiling, but this doesn’t mean that these items won’t still shift in transport. To protect all of your items, use packing straps throughout the process to keep certain items safe and secure. Rather than strapping it all in at the end, strap down sections at a time for optimum safety.
Follow these simple packing and loading tips and you’ll notice that you’ll not only pack more efficiently but your move will go much smoother than you might have imagined.

When driving long distances, especially at night, it is common to want to doze off, especially after a long, tiring day. This, of course, is a dangerous situation. Short of pulling off the road and taking a nap, what can be done to stay awake and keep driving?

Using food and drink to stay alert

Keep your taste buds awake, drink an energy drink. This may raise your level of alertness for a reasonable amount of driving time. Suck or munch on an apple, orange, or even a lemon to keep taste buds awake. The more tangy the food item the better. (Pull over somewhere safe before eating anything that you can't just pop in your mouth, however. Eating while driving can also cause accidents).

Eat slowly. If you have a snack that comes in small pieces, eat them one at a time. Otherwise, take small bites of whatever you've got. Make it last. The more active you are, the easier it'll be to stay awake.

Drink beverages slowly. Coffee works especially well since it contains caffeine, which might keep you awake. (However, see next note.) Also, the frequent bathroom stops will help your mind stay alert for the next rest area!

Avoid sugar. Sugar causes several responses in your system which result in drowsiness and brain fog some time later. The faster the sugar was taken into your system, the stronger the effect.

Chew gum to keep your mouth busy. It stops the yawning, which stops the dozing off. Just make sure you keep chewing, even if your mouth gets tired of chewing. This is gum trick taken from truck drivers and it works really well!

Do something that engages more than one sense. For example, crunching on ice chips or eating sunflower seeds work because the crunching action keeps you engaged but not distracted from the road.

Ice works extremely well for some people. You don't necessarily have to crunch the ice. It works well for afternoon meetings, too.

Eat sunflower seeds either one at a time or a mouthful. The action of cracking the seed, manipulating the seed in your mouth, removing the seed, and discarding the shell will keep your mind active and awake. Remember to keep a plastic cup in the car to spit the shells into (or due to their size, you might be able to get away with spitting them out the window).

Budget Truck Rental Coupons 50% Off: 4 Tips for Choosing a Truck Rental Company

While there can be a multitude of truck rental companies to choose from for your next do-it-yourself move, today you have more ways than ever to compare their services and costs.
Your first instinct may be to pick the one with the lowest price, but be sure to factor in service and dependability ? a decision to move on the cheap may wind up costing you in the end.
With that in mind, here are a few tips for choosing a truck rental company that will suit your needs and your budget. Have you ever heard about Budget Truck Rental Coupons 50% Off ?
Ask People You Trust
Good news travels fast but bad news travels faster. Ask your friends and family if they have any moving-truck company recommendations or horror stories. If you can find a trusted opinion on a truck rental, you will narrow your choices right away.
Research!
Go online to look for reviews of rental truck companies that operate in your area. See if they have had complaints listed against them with the Better Business Bureau. Did they respond adequately and take care of the customers or did they ignore their complaints? Are there any common problems reported with the company’s equipment or services?
Call the Companies
Calling rental companies will give you a better idea of how they treat potential customers. Ask for a free quote and find out exactly what the quote entails. If the company is reputable, it will provide the information you need with no hesitation and no questions asked. Such as: Budget Truck Rental, Auto Trader.... You can get Budget Truck Rental Coupons 50% Off for budget cost driving
Get a Binding Quote
When you request a quote, ask the company for a binding quote. This type of quote legally binds the company to the price they gave you and they can’t increase it. A reputable rental company should have no problem providing a binding quote. This quote will also give you the peace of mind in knowing your rental costs before you sign the contract.
